Law Office of John A. Peralta

Criminal Defense & Appeals

Because Experience Matters...

Mr. Peralta's practice is limited to state and federal criminal defense and appeals. He is also Regional Counsel for the Texas Municipal Police Association.

With over 30 years of criminal law experience under his belt, there is no type of case that Mr. Peralta has not encountered. From a state murder case to a multi-million dollar federal fraud case, Mr. Peralta has seen it all.

Mr. Peralta is no stranger to the courtroom, having successfully tried scores of jury trials in both state and federal court. A skilled trial attorney must combine two disparate skills when trying a case. He must first and foremost present an aggressive, powerful, persuasive argument to the jury - fighting for an acquittal or at the very least a hung jury. However he must also be mindful of the rules of evidence and procedure - properly preserving for appellate review any error that might be committed by the judge or the prosecutor.

And if all else fails, you will need an accomplished appellate lawyer to brief and argue your appeal or Writ of Habeas Corpus. Mr. Peralta has litigated dozens of appeals in both state and federal appellate courts, and has appeared before the state Courts of Appeals, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He also has experience filing Petitions for Certiorari seeking review by the U.S. Supreme Court.

"He was very quick to respond to my questions, even though I was incarcerated he got word to me through an approved person. On time for court and well prepared, he didn't have to study his notes on my case while in court – he knew my case. I was not a number but a client and I thank him."  Mark R.
